Suzanne Mercier LLB
Suzanne is a legal and HR executive with 20+ years of experience leading organizations through all cycles of growth to drive strategic business outcomes through a combination of broad domain expertise, business acumen, empathy, and a relentless drive for results.
​After obtaining her LL.B. from the University of Victoria (1998), Suzanne worked as a finance lawyer in Vancouver (Lawson Lundell) and in London, England (Norton Rose and Allen & Overy) before moving to San Francisco where she began working in-house with Irwin Home Equity and then Wells Fargo. Suzanne moved back to Vancouver after her first child was born and started a legal consulting business (Mercier Law Corporation). Suzanne joined BuildDirect Technologies as General Counsel in 2013 and ultimately wore many hats beyond General Counsel, including Chief People Officer.
In 2020, Suzanne resumed working as a fractional Legal and HR executive working cross-functionally to provide in-house leadership, legal services, strategic advice, risk management, and corporate governance to fast-paced technology companies.
Most recently, Suzanne worked with Nexii Building Solutions as EVP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, where she was able to leverage her legal, operational, risk management, and corporate governance expertise in the sustainability sector.
Suzanne is a member of the British Columbia Bar (1999) and California Bar (2004). Suzanne has also served as a Director of Western Pacific Trust Company, and volunteers her time at Equal Rights Advocates, and the Association of Corporate Counsel (BC Chapter).
